FOR AI / MCP

Give your assistant a stock library.

One MCP endpoint over the same data the website uses. Your agent searches by intent, filters for copy space, and returns a ready URL.

STEP 01
Open connector settings
In Claude or any MCP client, add a custom connector.

Free stock photos for AI agents — FAQ

What is FreeStockMCP?

FreeStockMCP is a free stock-photo library with a built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can search it and fetch a ready-to-use image URL without leaving the chat. Every image is AI-generated in-house, human-curated, and free for commercial use with no attribution and no account.

How do I get free stock photos inside Claude, ChatGPT or an AI agent?

Add the MCP endpoint https://freestockmcp.com/mcp as a custom connector in your MCP client (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any other). No API key and no account are required. Your assistant then gets four tools — search_stock_photos, get_stock_photo, list_categories and request_stock_photo — and can find an image by intent, for example: “find a hero-safe dental clinic photo, landscape.”

Is there an MCP server for stock photos?

Yes. FreeStockMCP is an MCP-native stock-photo library. Point any MCP client at https://freestockmcp.com/mcp and the agent can search the whole library by keyword, industry, orientation and copy space, then return a downloadable image URL. The endpoint is read-only and rate-limited.

Are the images really free? Do I need attribution or a licence?

Yes, they are free. You can use the images commercially — in ads, decks, products and client work — crop and retouch them, and put text over them, all with no attribution and no account. You may not resell or redistribute the files themselves as stock, or claim them as your own photography.

How is FreeStockMCP different from Unsplash, Pexels or Getty?

The main difference is that FreeStockMCP is built for AI agents: an assistant can query it directly over MCP and get a URL back, instead of you leaving your workflow to browse a website. The images are also generated with copy space (“hero-safe” clear areas) so a headline always fits, and there are no third-party model or property releases to worry about because nothing is scraped.

What sizes and formats does FreeStockMCP provide?

Each image ships as eight WebP derivatives — hero-wide (1600×900), hero-banner (1600×640), card-landscape (800×450), card-standard (800×600), square (800×800), social/OG (1200×630) and portrait (800×1000) — plus the full-resolution original. Hero-safe images map a clear region for overlaid text.

How do I connect FreeStockMCP to Claude Desktop or Cursor?

In the client's connector or MCP settings, add a custom connector and paste https://freestockmcp.com/mcp as the URL. It uses MCP Streamable HTTP and is stateless, so there is nothing else to configure — no key, no OAuth. Once added, ask the assistant for an image and it will call the search tool for you.

Can I request a stock photo that doesn't exist yet?

Yes. If nothing in the library fits, your assistant can call the request_stock_photo tool (or you can POST to https://freestockmcp.com/request) with a short description of the image you need. This does not generate anything instantly — every request is queued and reviewed by a person before any image is made — but it is how new images get added. You can also submit a request from the logged-in web console.

Who makes FreeStockMCP and is it safe to use?

FreeStockMCP is an independent project by TurboDemand. Images are generated in-house to a per-industry brief, then curated and tagged by a person before publishing. The MCP endpoint needs no account or key; its search/fetch tools are read-only and the request tool only queues a suggestion for human review. The project is not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or any client whose logo is shown for compatibility.
